What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, the visitor’s IP address and the browser user agent to help detect spam.

 

An anonymous string created using your email address (this is also called a hash) can be sent to the Gravatar service if you use it. After your comment is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible in the context of your comment.

Cookies

When you leave a comment on our site, you can indicate whether your name, your e-mail address and website may be stored in a cookie. We do this for your convenience so you need this data again to fill a new comment. These cookies are valid for one year.

 

If you visit our login page, we take a temporary cookie on check or to accept browser cookies. This cookie contains no personal information and are deleted when you close your browser.

 

Once you log in, we will retain a number of cookies in connection with your login information and screen display options. Login cookies are valid for 2 days and cookies for screen display options one year. If you select “Remember Me”, you will be saved for 2 weeks. Once you log out of your account, login cookies are deleted.

 

When you change a message or publish an additional cookie is stored by your browser. This cookie does not contain personal data and only the station ID of the article you’ve edited in itself. This cookie expired after one day.

When you leave a comment, that comment and the metadata of that comment will be stored forever. When you leave a comment then that reaction and the metadata that reaction forever preserved.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or you have left comments, you can request an export file of your personal data that we have about you, including all data that you have provided to us. You can also request that we all personal information we remove from you. This does not include data that we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
